Hartstown Community School Transition year 2017/18
A one year voluntary programme which aims
- to bridge the gap between junior and senior cycle
- to promote maturity among its participants
- to assist each individual to develop as a person
- to create independent learners
- to develop links with wider community
- to maintain links with the Leaving certificate programme

- One or two classes depending on the numbers
- Mixed ability classes
- Work experience in February
- Mid year assessment in January
- End of year assessment in May
- Parents night in May
Assessment
A blend of continuous and modular assessment and uses the following criteria
- Distinction 85%
- Merit 70%
- Pass 60%
Finances
- A contribution of 320 Euros is asked at the start of the year to cover some costs while additional costs are met by the school
