1st Year Art Students visit the National History Museum
HCS / News / 1st Year Art Students visit the National History Museum
First year Art Students visited the Natural History Museum with Ms. Byrne and Mr. Casey to research Primary Sources within the Museum for students to create their own Art pieces.
During our trip to the Natural History Museum we got the chance to draw animals from life and not just from a screen. We got to draw animals from all over the world of every shape and size. We had to complete different tasks on a worksheet.
We also got to see the Irish section, which had many of our native animals and insects. Everyone got to draw the animals from whatever angle they wanted, which meant that everyone’s drawing was different.
After that we went to the National Art Gallery. We got to see loads of famous artist’s different techniques. Like light, shadow and their use of colours. We also were able to see the winner of ‘Portrait artist of the year 2017’, a painting of Graham Norton.
