A brilliant day out!

Sculpture in Context 2017

 Botanic Gardens

The Sculpture in Context Exhibition at the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin is an annual trip for fifth year Art students for a good reason it is a brilliant day out!

The combination of exhibition spaces creates an atmospheric venue for work of varying sizes and in different media some examples are, bronze, granite, ceramic and felt. The enclosed spaces of the garden allow the artists to create an element of discovery around their work. The exhibition uses both indoor and outdoor spaces with some sculptures placed in the great Palm House and the Curvilinear Glass houses and smaller works exhibited in the gallery above the visitors centre.

The students analysed, drew and discussed the exhibition in an essay format for the exam ahead.
